Nzherald story news announcing the sentence for a Kiwi accused of importing a couple of kilos of meth into Bali. Bali has some of the strictest anti drug laws in the world. The Kiwi sentenced today was facing the death penalty and execution by firing squad. A process where up to 10 soldiers or police are only given 3 live shells amongst them and the rest given blanks. This technique is employed to eliminate the psychological effects afterwards the shame, guilt, anxiety and other aftereffects after the execution. To deter the damage on the soldiers they only ever hand 2 or 3 live shells
Anthony the Kiwi sentenced today claims he was setup to "mule" it in to Bali where he was detained at the airport and since jailed. He claims he was carrying a luggage bag for a woman he met on the Internet. He had flown into South East Asia to be redirected to Bali and asked to carry the bag for this "lady" he still hadn't met face to face he met her through an online dating site.
To me this sounds as though this had to have a strong possibility to being true. These type of scams are more and more on the increase. Anthony is lucky he didn't get the death penalty but he is late middle aged and suffers ailing medical conditions a strong possibility he will die in jail.

NZ Police do the end justify the means?
Interesting article about the increase of powers in surveillance and the case against the Red Devils and Hells Angels Motorcycle Clubs. The undercover sting operations against these Clubs involved 2 undercover police men becoming members of the Red Devils MC in Nelson. The Red Devils MC are a feeder club to the Hells Angles MC in many parts of the world. The Hells Angels MC have long wanted to establish themselves in the South Island. The police falsified charges against the undercover agent and even had an appearance in the Nelson District Court. The presiding judge did not know this was the case and is the reason why all 100+ charges were thrown out by a High Court Judge because the police had acted unlawfully when they did the rooze to gain the agents credibility with the Red Devils MC. This article on stuff is a very good read and raises the question of what do we do if we consider the police to be a force unaccountable for
